Mark Hemmings, a New Brunswick, Canada, based artist, manages to recreate the effect of black and white films from the 1920's with 'Geist'
. He used a Nikon Coolpix to take 1500 images that were processed in Photoshop and then edited in Final Cut Pro. Because he used high-res digital photos, the film can be viewed in 35mm and not lose any resolution.
This macabre film is eerie and reminds me of the original 'Nosferatu'
from 1922, which is one of the creepiest films of all time.

Dragon is a beautiful piece directed by Jamie Caliri for United Airlines. He combines puppetry and stopmotion for an amazing cardboard cutout look.
There is a Making of Dragon that explains the process, from the inital storyboards to the illustrations to the texture making, puppet making, shooting and cleaning up the rigging.
"Los Angeles Let's Be Friends"
portrays friendly monsters invading Los Angleles to spread happiness throught a bleak city. The poor monsters don't seem to have much effect on society. Friends is one of the coolest, most colorful and fun pieces I've seen in a while. It mixes live footage with 2D and 3D. It was directed by Three Legged Legs, an LA-based animation and directing collective.
