They did an amazing job creating the look of 1970s films. I wonder if they used the same stock or used something like Magic Bullet Looks? They probably had an expert with a Divinci System color grade it.

Flashback Friday: Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs (2006)
Yes, I realize it's Thursday but I don't think I'll be updating the site tomorrow!
I LOVE this song and LOVE Kaiser Chiefs. I saw them at Lollapalooza 09 and I was blown away. Best show by far and I was up close. They had so much energy in 90° heat and rain. I had never seen the video for Ruby until today. They just don't play good music videos here and I have cheap cable, so all I ever see is Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
Mathematic partnered with a company called Stink UK and Stylewar of Sweden to create this amazing piece of art for Kaiser Chiefs. It was shot on greenscreen and a miniature city builds around the band. It's a masterpiece for sure!

Final Fantasy XIII Game Trailer
Dazzling as usual, the team behind the Final Fantasy series does not disappoint with lucky #13.... aside from the US version not available until April or so! It already has sold over 1.5 million units in Japan within the first four days of its release last week.
Guess it's time for me to bite the bullet and finally purchase a PS3.

The idea is based on a technique called tilt-shift, combined with time-lapse (developed by Keith Loutit). It makes reality appear as a miniature model moving with a stop-motion flow. The thought is to create a visually interesting expression that give the audience something out of the ordinary, while at the same time providing a good overview of events. We would shoot from a high angle using specially developed lenses with a short depth of field. The fact that the world appears to be miniature makes the viewer think ”is it for real or not”. It is hard to tear your eyes from the images, something that works well for our purpose.
A gigantic hand will appear in the middle of events helping the workers to get the house ready for summer. It will light the barbeque with a magnifying glass for example. The idea is to create a visually absurd situation using displacement of scale between the people in frame and the giant hand. It is meant to underline the contrast of small and big, where the hand symbolizes the consumers ability to effect the environment and in the extension his or her own environment. Through time-lapse we’ll reinforce the ”before and after” scenario as you’ll be able to see small changes appear quickly. The film will start in a winter worn backyard and in 30 seconds evolve to a wonderful summer barbeque.

Giant robots invades Montevideo! A short movie directed and animated by Fede Alvarez on a shoestring budget of only several hundred dollars. (Probably not factoring in his actual time to make this...) Hollywood quickly took notice and offered him a bigger budget.
